pro-ven Places the World Procurement Congress

Press Release:  The new InterContinental London – The O2 situated on the modern Greenwich Peninsula, has won a three year contract to host the Procurement Leaders’ prestigious World Procurement Congress and Awards.
The purpose built luxury 453-room hotel and 4,500sqm conference centre will host the 2016 event on 17-18 May, having secured the London event from its previous location in the capital’s west end.
Working with leading venue placement agency pro-ven, Procurement Leaders’ specific requirement for a large, flexible, world-class meeting space combined with excellent transport links for 700+ delegates, arriving from more than 20 countries across the globe, was met in the InterContinental London – The O2. The location, luxury accommodation and dedicated conference centre proved the ideal new venue for the prestigious annual event.
For two full days, the World Procurement Congress will take over the hotel’s entire conference centre including all 3,100sqm of pillar-free space within the Arora Ballroom – one of Europe’s largest single event spaces – to showcase brands including Google, SAP, Coupa and Huawei and all 19 additional meeting rooms for presentations, networking and break-outs. The hotel will also play host to the World Procurement Awards on the night of 18 May; a dinner and celebrity-hosted awards ceremony for 1000 guests.
Hasham Soliman, General Manager of the InterContinental London – The O2 commented, “We are delighted to be working with Procurement Leaders to host their World Procurement Congress for the next three years. We have a brand new, incredible product with all the space, versatility and connections required to attract high-profile large events such as this one away from the centre of London and this contract perfectly underlines our ability to do just that.”
Chris Edwards, Procurement Leaders’ Head of Operations added, “Having held discussions with the team at pro-ven and the InterContinental London – The O2 during its pre-opening phase, we are now really looking forward to holding the event in what is already fast becoming the capital’s most exciting new venue.  The sheer scale of the events space, along with its unique position on the river, provides us with a phenomenal new all-round events proposition for the congress to ensure it can continue to grow year on year.”
Dale Trendell, Director of Operations at pro-ven responsible for the venue search and negotiations, commented, “The InterContinental London – The O2 quite simply ticks all the boxes for the World Procurement Congress and Awards. Its huge pillar-free ballroom and multiple breakout rooms within a dedicated luxurious conference centre site provided the initial key attraction, but its excellent transport links and the opportunity for the event to offer delegates a completely new experience whilst in London, secured the hotel as the ideal host venue.”
